Our skin is an organ, so why do we put chemicals on it?

Our skin is the largest organ in our body. Because it’s one we can see, we do a lot of things to help keep it looking good, but at what cost? Are the products we are applying to our skin actually good for us?

The basic answer is that if you wouldn’t eat it, you shouldn’t be applying it to your skin.

Your body reacts to everything you put on to your skin and while you may not be eating it, your body is absorbing it.

The number of chemicals contained in the products we apply to our skin these days is overwhelming. They all have a claim to fame, but many fail to come up with the results they promise while seeping into our body through our skin.

This cannot be good for us.

My desire to take better care of my body and mind led me to find a product that would do what it is intended to do, would be good for my skin and good for my body.

Sitting quietly on the shelf at my local healthfood store was Moo Goo. I was pleasantly surprised to find their products came about when their founder adapted a cream that’s used to heal a cow’s udders to help a family member with a skin problem. As cows don’t care too much for gimmicks, the ingredients were basic but known for their skin healing properties.

They also like their creams to be as food like as possible.

It all sounded to good to be true but I decided to give their face cream a go. Within a few weeks my skin started to feel softer. It is now clear and it looks fresher.

I have always had a problem with an irritated scalp when washing my hair with shampoos and conditioner. After using their products, my hair is softer and my scalp is thankful.

I have been using their deodorant for just over twelve months now. I’ll be honest, when I first started using it last summer, I still had a problem with odour and constantly had the bottle under my arm, but I persevered and have noticed in the last few months that odour hasn’t been an issue. Being a PT, group fitness instructor and pool lifeguard, I’m not in air conditioning very often, so it has had a tough job to do.

One thing I love is that as it is a deodorant and not an antipersperant, there’s no aluminium. The amount of sweating I now do has also decreased.

I am also using one of the Moo Goo soaps. I recently went overseas for three weeks and decided to just use the hotel soaps instead of taking my own. Over those three weeks, skin tags started to develop under my arms. Very unsightly! Three weeks later after using Moo Goo soap again, they’re all gone – yay!

I am excited to continue trying their new products because I can honestly say I feel better for using them. They have a new make up range called ‘Dusty Girls’. While I don’t wear a lot of make up anyway, I’m looking forward to using a product that is considerate to my skin and my health.

I can honestly say that through eating better and using more natural products on my skin I am feeling a whole lot better…..and my skin is glowing with the results.

I have no affiliation with Moo Goo. I just really like their products and want to shout it to the world the difference they have made in my life. They are also happy to list all of their ingredients for each product on their website www.moogoo.com.au.

I am also really pleased to say they are Australian Made and they are not tested on animals.

As part of your health care plan, I highly recommend taking a really good look at how many chemicals you put on your skin every day and make some positive changes to using products that are closer to food than a chemical dip.
