You Don’t Eat Very Much Food…

During our last couple of yoga retreats, the comment has been made…

YOU DON’T EAT VERY MUCH FOOD…

Say what?!

How much food do you want to eat?

Why eat more food than you need to?

I eat enough food…

I’m certainly not going without…

I eat good food and I eat until I feel satisfied…

Because, if I eat too much…

My stomach hurts…

So, why would I want to do that?

I made a comment to Will the other day when we went out to lunch…

We ordered the petite size serving of a main meal…

I made a comment about how the petite size meal is the size of what a regular main meal used to be like…

Now it’s the petite version…

I order it because main meals these days are WAY TOO BIG!

No one needs that much food…

On Christmas Day, we went to a seafood buffet…

I call it a SEEFOOD buffet…

Not because it has seafood but because of the ridiculous amounts of food people eat when they’re at a buffet…

They SEE the food and they HAVE TO EAT IT ALL!

Yes, I ate a bit too much food on Christmas Day…

It was all so good…

But there were people there eating THREE TIMES as much as I was…

There’s a weird mentality that goes with going out and paying for food…

Especially on Christmas Day where the cost pretty much triples…

That because they’re paying three times the amount…

THEY MUST EAT THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT IN FOOD…

What they forget is that the price you’re paying is also paying for the staff (who are giving up their Christmas Day to serve you, cook your food, wash the dishes and clean up after you) and the atmosphere…

If there’s entertainment, you’re paying for that…

If Santa makes an appearance, you’re paying for that…

You’re not just paying for the food…

So, why do you need to eat the equivalent in food of the price you paid?

On a side note, I’ve booked different places each year ranging from $80.00 for a buffet lunch on Christmas Day to $250.00 one year…

And in all honesty…

I enjoyed the $250.00 one the most…

The venue was amazing…

The entertainment was top class…

Santa looked amazing…

The staff were exceptional…

It was the atmosphere that made all the difference…

The food was amazing but in the end…

It wasn’t just about the food…

I wasn’t there to eat $250.00 worth of food…

I was there for the experience…

And that’s what seems to get forgotten about when dining out…

It’s an experience…

The food is an added bonus and another part of that experience…

The body has this amazing natural function which is FREE for you to access and use AT ANY TIME…

ABUNDANCE 101!

It will tell you when you’ve had enough food…

It kicks in when you’re about 80% full…

It’s that feeling of, ‘I feel like I’ve had enough but I think I could still fit a little bit more in…and it does taste nice…sooooo…’

That’s when you need to stop…

It doesn’t matter if there’s still food on your plate…

Stop…and wait 20 minutes…

If you’re still hungry in 20 minutes, eat some more…

But most of the time, you’ll find that you feel pleasantly full and you won’t need any more…

It’s when you keep eating past that point that you feel bloated and yuck…

You don’t need diet fads to lose weight or to maintain a healthy body…

Nature has provided EVERYTHING YOU’LL EVER NEED…

Nature’s amazing like that…

It has created abundance everywhere…

And your access to it is directly within you…

Listen to the messages your body is sending you…

Follow the 80/20 rule – eat good, nutritious food most of the time and treat yourself 20% of the time…

Become calorie aware – learn about your food (and drinks – it’s much easier to drink calories than it is to eat them)…

Drink water most of the time – water is a given…everything else is a choice…

Eat foods that make you feel good…

Don’t eat food that doesn’t make you feel good (no need to make a big deal about it)…

And keep processed food out of the cupboard at home…

You’re less likely to eat Oreos if you have to put pants on to go out, get in the car and drive to the store to buy them…

AND DO THE INNER WORK…

Your mindset and how you feel about yourself plays a bigger role than any of this…

When your mindset is in the right place, the rest of it is child’s play…

Be the person you need to be…and do the things you need to do…to have the things (including the body) you want to have…

It’s that simple and when your mind is in the right place…the rest of it falls into place…
