Stop Adulting for a Minute… Being Human Isn’t Hard…

If you want to be successful, it’s all go, go, go. Forget about your dreams. Fit in and do what you have to do to make lots of money and you’ll be seen as successful… So they say…

Money is important, but it’s also just an energy. It’s no less or more important than any of the other energies. I know some people who are making a lot of money, but their life revolves around their work and they have no money sense. Their health is poor. They have hardly any life outside of their work. They believe they’re successful, and from the point of making lots of money, they are. But they’re making money from a poor man’s perspective and they’re living to work.

Being human isn’t hard. It’s being expected to function in this society that we’ve been conditioned to believe is our reality that’s hard.

I said to one of these people that I don’t live to work, I work to live and I honestly saw a dimensional wall quiver between us. They were shocked. We were in the same room, but living in two different dimensions.

I’m healthy. I’ve brought my health back from surgeries and medications to being pain free and strong. I’ve travelled the world entertaining and still live my life doing what I love to do. I am great with figures and managing money. I may not make money on the scale that they do, but I am also successful, in my own way.

What’s the difference? I know how to sit still.

How long can you sit still? Do you feel like you’re wasting time? Can you allow yourself to sit still and just be with yourself?

The opportunity to sit still with yourself is one of the greatest gifts of life. It’s drummed out of us and we’re told we’re ‘being lazy’ and yet sitting still is where the magic happens.

I recently attended a masterclass where we had to take in an object that meant something to us but had no value to anyone else.

I took in this small Mateus bottle. It was a promotional 187ml bottle attached to a normal sized bottle, but it reminded me of an incredible moment in my life…A moment when I simply sat still.

Towards the end of 2019, we had the opportunity to travel overseas at the last minute to celebrate our birthdays. My partner’s son was in Amsterdam, so we met up with him and travelled around The Netherlands. When it came to my birthday at the end of October, we woke up in Copenhagen.

We caught the train to Malmö, Sweden for the day. My partner and his son wanted to travel over the Øresund bridge that was featured in the TV series, ‘The Bridge’ and I wasn’t about to say no to spending my birthday in two different countries.

But after being in each others’ pockets for the past few weeks, I needed some time to myself. So while the boys visited a museum, I took the opportunity to walk back to the centre of Malmö and just sit, by myself, and watch the people. It’s intriguing to just watch people getting on with their lives. Everyone’s life is completely different and yet we’re all connected. By simply sitting and watching, I was alone but connected to everyone at the same time.

It was perfect.

So, where does the bottle of Mateus come into it? Later that day, I found a bottle of Mateus White. In Australia, I’ve only ever seen the Rose. I love it, but drinking Mateus White on my birthday in Denmark, I imagined I was drinking diamonds.

This small bottle reminds me of the moments when I simply stopped and found myself living in the moment… and the magic it produced.

If you feel like your life is too busy to stop right now, catch yourself in the moment and just be in the moment, only focusing on what you’re doing in that moment. Time will slow down.

Learning to take the time to stop and be in the moment is the greatest gift you can give to yourself, your family, and to your life.
