How Do You Make Your Body More Flexible?

Usual answers…

“I need to do stretches…”

“I need to do yoga…”

It’s time to chuck that thinking out the window…

Because it’s leading you astray…

Here’s what I know…

This comes from my experience working as a Personal Trainer and going from feeling tightness in my own body to being flexible at 47 and never doing stretches…

The SECRET to your body becoming more flexible is…

The SECRET to being healthy and well…

Even the SECRET to losing weight and keeping it off…

THE SECRET IS…

Your beliefs, your connection to your soul, moving your body in ways you enjoy and BREATHING DEEPLY…

It’s that simple…

If you want to do yoga to become more flexible, that’s great…

But to get the benefit, know this…

Yoga is not about the stretching…

It’s about the breathing and connection to self…

The asanas (poses) are there to bring a closer connection for you to your breath and self…

I once worked with a group of people who were very strict in their beliefs regarding their religion…

There was no dancing…

There was segregation in church with men on one side and women on the other…

This post is not about knocking anyone’s beliefs…

I believe in everyone living their lives according to themselves…

This post is about my observation of how your body is a direct reflection of your internal world and how your beliefs affect your body…

Their bodies were completely stiff…

There was no movement in their waist…

No movement in their hips…

Their feet were tight…

They couldn’t get anywhere near touching their toes…

And their breathing was shallow…

If you want to become more flexible…

Start dancing…

Wiggle your hips…

Sing…

Follow your heart and start listening to your soul…

Do things that connect you with your body…

That encourage mind-muscle connection…

Connect with your soul…

Enjoy the feeling of filling your lungs as deeply as possible as often as possible…

Do yoga…

Not for the stretches but for the calmness of the mind…

Breathing and connection to self…

Deep breathing stimulates the Vagus Nerve and reduces inflammation…

Singing activates the Vagus Nerve and reduces inflammation…

Moving your hips brings a connection to self…

All of the above activates those feel good hormones…

Let go of the beliefs that are stopping you from being everything you can be…

And watch as your body becomes more flexible.
